I've ranked the D-7 as being somewhat inferior to the Constitution
of the time, mostly because Kirk and co. never seemed to have much trouble
dealing with these ships when they met them. I've tried to make some sense
of the design as compared to Federation ships, but otherwise haven't gone
into all that much detail concerning the history of the design, since we
know so little about the period immediately prior to TOS.
